Astros GM Dana Brown Prepares For First Spring Training Matchups

Dana Brown, general manager of the Houston Astros, joins The Matt Thomas Show live from CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches in Florida to discuss the Astros preparation for their first spring training games coming up this weekend.

As today was the first full-squad workout, Brown said he was using "scout's eye" to " try to evaluate the players" as they participated in live batting practice.

Third baseman Alex Bregman has reported to spring training as he enters the final year of his current contract. "We'll put together an offer," but "he's locked in" right now, Brown said about possibly extending Bregman.

Center fielder Jake Meyers was named the starter prior to his reporting to spring training, and Brown says he is confident in the young player. "Meyers just needs to "try to find that consistent stride in [his] game, and then good things will happen."
