Ben DuBose 'Wouldn't Be Surprised' If Reed Sheppard Spends Time In G League

Ben DuBose, editor of The Rockets Wire, joins Next Up ahead of the Houston Rockets introducing Reed Sheppard, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Sheppard, a guard from the University of Kentucky, was named the SEC's Freshman of the Year and shot over 52% from three while at Kentucky. While Sheppard can fill a shooting gap for the Rockets, who ranked 23rd in the NBA in 3-point percentage last season, the Rockets have "an established team" and will let their already "young core continue to develop," DuBose said.

The Rockets re-signed Aaron Holiday to a two-year, $10 million contract Monday, bringing back another guard for the upcoming season. Sheppard is "willing to compete," and the Rockets "want to develop the other aspects of his game," but "I wouldn't be surprised if [Sheppard] spends some time in the G League," DuBose said.
