Stefon Diggs 'Had Nothing To Do With The Altercation' At Texans Practice

KPRC reporter Aaron Wilson joins Next Up as the Houston Texans have a scheduled day off from training camp Thursday, one week away from the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game against the Chicago Bears.

However, on Wednesday, day six and the second practice with full pads, there was a heated exchange between the first team offense and defense following defensive back Jimmie Ward's hit on wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The altercation intensified after cornerback Derek Stingley knocked tight end Dalton Schultz to the ground as Schultz was walking away. Diggs "had nothing to do with the altercation," Wilson said.

Despite tempers flaring briefly, the Texans defense has performed well at training camp. "I like Jalen Pitre at nickel," and the Texans "have great depth" in the secondary. Wilson is also impressed by the athletic ability of defensive end Danielle Hunter. "Big sack numbers are possible for [Hunter] with Will Anderson Jr. on the other side."
