Bregman, Alvarez Homer as Astros Sweep Red Sox in Boston

Alex Bregman hit a three-run homerun, while Yordan Alvarez followed with a solo shot and the Astros beat the Red Sox on Sunday 10-2, completing a sweep of Boston at Fenway Park.

The Astros (62-55) have now won five in a row, and continue to lead the AL West, albeit still tied with the Seattle Mariners (62-56) in the standings.

Jeremy Peña also went deep, while Yainer Diaz delivered a two-run double. Jose Altuve went 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, on the mound, Hunter Brown struck out nine, allowing just two runs in 5 1/3 innings of work. He improved to 10-7 on the season.

After the game, Red Sox Manager Alex Cora compared Yordan Alvarez to former Red Sox star David Ortiz. Alvarez hit three homeruns on the weekend, and has homered in four of his last five games.

“For me, he’s up there with Judge, to be honest with you,” Cora said. “Closest thing to David, probably, in the game. Very, very, very similar to David Ortiz.”

Next up for the Astros, they travel to Tampa to take on the Rays. Tune in to all of the action on your home for Astros baseball, SportsTalk790!
