WR John Metchie III 'Did Enough' Against Giants To Make The Texans Roster

Houston Chronicle writer Jonathan Alexander joins Next Up following the Texans defeating the New York Giants 28-10 on Saturday for their second preseason victory.

Alexander published an article that makes a projection for the Texans 53-man roster. NFL teams must have a maximum of 53 players on the active/inactive list by August 27, and the Texans have tight position battles, especially in the running back and wide receiver groups.

Dameon Pierce is "a little bit too valuable to cut," and [Cam] Akers has been impressive," Alexander said, having both running backs making the team.

With Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell and Nico Collins solidified as the Texans top receivers, the next players on the depth chart have been in question since the beginning of training camp. However, Alexander has John Metchie III on the Texans roster. "I think [Metchie] did enough in that preseason game" against the Giants, catching six passes for 68 yards and a touchdown.
