Texans cut linebacker Tae Davis, fullback Andy Janovich

The Texans are cutting former Cleveland Browns linebacker Tae Davis, according to a league source.

Davis was waived-injured and spent the season on injured reserve last year.

Davis has recorded 52 career tackles and two sacks. He has five quarterback hits.

Moving on from Davis is a sign of the Texans' upgraded depth at the position .

Davis made the New York Giants' 53-man roster as a rookie in 2018 before joining the Browns off waivers.

Later Sunday afternoon, the Texans also released veteran fullback Andy Janovich.

Janovich's release comes at a time when fullback Paul Quessenberry has drawn praise from the coaching staff for his play.

Janovich was traded to the Cleveland Browns from the Denver Broncos two seasons ago in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick.

He played in 13 games last season and rushed for one touchdown. He caught three passes for nine yards.

He's a former Broncos sixth-round draft pick. He signed a three-year, $5.7 million extension in the final year of his rookie contract in Denver before joining the Browns.

The Texans also released undrafted offensive tackle Myron Cunningham, a rookie from Arkansas, and placed wide receiver Chester Rogers on injured reserve.

Rogers had a 30-yard punt return against the Los Angeles Rams on Friday, but also lost a fumble.

He had been dealing with injuries throughout training camp before recently returning to practice.
