Houston Rockets guard James Harden has donated $100,000 to Texas Southern University in a effort to help students with financial needs.
The money will help students who come from some of the lowest socioeconomic backgrounds in Houston, said university president Austin Lane, according to FOX 26.
"To have that kind of an opportunity from someone like James Harden, who can help further the educational careers of those students and help their dreams come true, is just phenomenal to be able to have that kind of support from a local icon like him," Lane said.
Harden's charitable streak continued this past weekend as he hosted a star-studded basketball tournament to fund his 3 The Harden Way charity organization. The organization provides higher-learning opportunities for first-generation college students from single-mother households, single mothers attending college, and Houston students from economically depressed communities.
