UH Men’s Basketball Looks for Another NCAA Run

The University of Houston Men’s basketball program will look to build off of a 27 win season a year ago, which included the first NCAA Tournament win in more than 30 years.

In the AAC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Coogs were picked to finish third behind Cincinnati and UCF. Corey Davis Jr. returns as the leading scorer for the squad, averaging just over 13 points a game. Davis Jr. earned AAC Preseason 2nd team honors along with Nate Hinton who received AAC Preseason Freshman of the Year. Head Coach Kelvin Sampson said, “ We’ll have a good team. Not today, but we’ll have a good team.”

UH held their annual media day for the basketball program today and the media got an updated look at the brand new Fertitta Center which will host the Men and Women Cougars. Coach Sampson said, “We could be in the new Fertitta Center by November 12th but the first game will be held December 1st.” UH will play host to the Oregon Ducks for the first game at the Fertitta Center.

The season will open tomorrow, November 1st, for the Cougars as they take on Dallas Baptist University in an exhibition game at the H&PE Arena on the campus of Texas Southern University.
