For The First Time in 35 Years, Houston is Sweet 16 Bound

The Houston Cougars took down Ohio State 74-59 Sunday night, to clinch a spot in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1984.

Corey Davis led the Coogs in scoring with 21 points for UH’s 33rd win of the season. With the win, the team broke the school’s record for wins that was set by the 1983-1984 team which was the last time UH made the Sweet 16.

Galen Robinson scored 13 points, Fabian White had 11 and Armoni Brooks rounded out the starters with 10 points. Brison Gresham came off the bench with nine points.

Houston’s defense held the Buckeyes to just 32% shooting in the second half and 38% for the entire game.

Next up for the Coogs will be a battle against Kentucky. Tip-off will be Friday night at 8:59pm CT.
