George Springer set the tone early by hitting the first pitch of the game off the center field wall for a triple Saturday night as the Astros beat the Red Sox, 7-3. With the win, Houston has won 10 in a row which is their second 10 game win streak of the season.
Corbin Martin was on the mound for his second career start and lasted four innings. Martin gave up three runs with two of those being earned on five hits. Josh James came in to replace Martin and pitched beautifully. James threw three innings, no runs, no hits, one walk, struck out two and won his first game of the year.
Houston put up five runs in the first inning following the Springer triple. Michael Brantley had an RBI double, Josh Reddick had a sac-fly followed by Yuli Gurriel hitting an RBI single. Tyler White then hit a two RBI double to finish the scoring for the inning. Carlos Correa hit a sac-fly the next inning to add to the scoring. Reddick would hit a deep home run later in the 5th inning to make it seven runs on the night for the Astros. Brantley was 3-5, White went 2-5 and Max Stassi also recorded two hits in the win as the team pounded out 13 hits.
The Astros will go for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon with Wade Miley taking the hill. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05pm CT.
