Verlander Dominates with 12 Ks as Astros Beat White Sox 5-1

Justin Verlander took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning Tuesday night on the way to his 8th win of the season as the Astros beat the White Sox, 5-1.

Verlander dominated from the jump striking out six in the first three innings. He lost the no-hitter on a home run by Jose Abreu which was the only hit registered against the 36 year old JV. Verlanders final line: 8.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 12 K and 1 BB. He improves to 8-1 on the season.

Yuli Gurriel hit an opposite field home run in the 4th for one of his two hits in the win. Michael Brantley had a two RBI double followed by an RBI single by Carlos Correa. Aledmys Diaz returned to the lineup off a hamstring strain and had two hits.

Houston improves to 33-16 and will continue the series against Chicago Wednesday night. Gerrit Cole takes the mound for the Astros looking for his 5th win.
