Bregman Hits Two Jacks, Hinch Earns 500th Career Win as Astros Beat Cubs

The Astros were without Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, George Springer and Aledmys Diaz along with a few others Wednesday night but that didn't stop the team from beating the Cubs, 9-6. The lineup looked more like a Triple-A Round Rock Express version with Derek Fisher, Jack Mayfield, Garrett Stubbs and Corbin Martin all in the game.

Alex Bregman led the way offensively with two opposite field home runs. One came in the 3rd and the second came in the 6th that broke a 6-6 tie. Bregman was 2-4 in the game with three RBI. Michael Brantley had two hits and two RBI along with Jake Marisnick who also had two hits and an RBI. Garrett Stubbs made his MLB debut behind the plate for Houston and had two hits with an RBI. Stubbs hit a double in his first AB.

Corbin Martin only lasted 3.2 innings and gave up three early home runs to Chicago. Josh James earned the win on the night by coming in to replace Martin. James tossed 2.1 innings giving up two hits, two homers, three earned runs and struck out four. Roberto Osuna recorded his 15th save of the season.

The win over the Cubs gave manager AJ Hinch his 500th career win as a manager.

Houston will go for the series sweep tomorrow night as Wade Miley takes the mound. Miley is 5-2 with a 3.32 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm.
