The Astros pounded out 12 hits and belted four homers in a 15-2 rout of the Blue Jays Friday night from Minute Maid Park. Gerrit Cole improved to 6-5 on the season, earning the win on the mound for Houston.
Yordan Alvarez led the way offensively with three hits, three runs and three RBI. Alvarez hit a two run bomb onto the train tracks in left-center field in the 4th inning. The exit velos on his three hits tonight were 114.1 mph, 110.2 mph and 108.7 mph. Alex Bregman hit a three run jack, Tony Kemp with a two run shot and Robinson Chirinos blasted a late inning grand slam along with a career high six RBI. Kemp and Chirinos both had two hits on the night.
Cole tossed six innings allowing two earned runs on three hits. He struck out 10 and walked two. Rogelio Armenteros who was just recalled from Triple-A Round Rock threw three innings of no run baseball. Rogelio struck out three while giving up just two hits.
Houston will continue the series against the Blue Jays Saturday afternoon. Framber Valdez will be on the mound, looking for his third win of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:10pm.
