Astros Launch Four Homers to End Losing Streak, Beat Yankees 9-4

Jose Altuve started off the game with a bang by smacking a lead-off home run which set the tone for the Astros to stop their seven game losing streak. Houston went on to beat the Yankees Sunday afternoon, 9-4.

Along with Altuve, Yordan Alvarez hit yet another homer in his young career for number seven of the season. Alvarez tied a big league record with seven bombs in 12 games and is the first player with at least seven home runs and 16 RBI through 12 games. Tyler White hit a grand slam in the top of the fourth and Yuli Gurriel hit a solo shot in the 5th. Michael Brantley, Josh Reddick and Jake Marisnick each had two hits in the victory.

Justin Verlander earned his 10th win of the season with another strong outing. Verlander tossed seven innings while giving up three runs on four hits. He struck out nine and walked two.

Houston will return home for a much need home stand beginning Tuesday night. Gerrit Cole will start game one of a three game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, his former team. Cole is 6-5 with a 3.54 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm.
