Yuli Gurriel hit a solo blast in the 10th inning to win it in walk-off fashion as the Astros beat the Mariners, 2-1.
Houston trailed 1-0 from the third inning on until Josh Reddick hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game at one. The home run broke a streak of 17 scoreless innings. Offensively, Alex Bregman was 3-5 on the night with three singles.
Wade Miley pitched another gritty outing by giving up just one run in six innings. He allowed three hits, walked two and struck out two. Will Harris earned the win on the mound after throwing the 10th inning where he gave up one hit and struck out one.
Justin Verlander will be on the mound for game two of the series Saturday night. Verlander looks for his 11th win on the season coming off a win against the Yankees in his last start. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15pm.
