For the second consecutive game, Yuli Gurriel hit a walk-off to propel the Astros to victory. This time, it was a double in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 6-5 win over the Mariners in game two of the series.
Justin Verlander had an uncharacteristic outing by lasting just five innings. He gave up five hits and four earned runs while walking four. Verlander struck out five but also gave up two home runs. Chris Devenski eventually came on to pitch the 10th inning and allowed one hit and one strike out to earn his second victory of the year.
George Springer was the only Astros player to have a multi-hit game with two hits in five ABs. Jose Altuve, Gurriel, and Jake Marisnick rounded out the lineup to have at least one RBI and a hit for Houston.
The Astros will look to sweep the Mariners Sunday afternoon as Gerrit Cole takes the hill. Cole is 7-5 on the season with a 3.42 ERA. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM.
