Justin Verlander set the tone for the All Star game Tuesday night by going three up, three down as the American League defeated the National League, 4-3.
Verlander needed just 14 pitches to get through the first inning and threw no fastball slower than 95mph. JV struck out two on his way to an easy inning.
George Springer led off the bottom of the first with a single in his 1-2 night in Cleveland. Alex Bregman hit a single in the bottom of the second and was then knocked in by Michael Brantley who hit an RBI double to excite the Cleveland faithful. Brantley played 10 seasons with the Indians before be acquired by the Astros. The first three hits for the AL were from the three Astros players which is the first time in All-Star game history that one MLB team accounted for the first three hits by a league team.
Gerrit Cole and Ryan Pressly did not get a chance to pitch in the victory.
Houston will be back in action Thursday night as they visit the Texas Rangers.
