Justin Verlander continued his dominant season by striking out 10 Sunday afternoon as the Astros beat the Mariners, 3-1. With the win, Houston swept Seattle and improved to 12-1 against the M's this season.
Verlander gave up one run in six innings pitched while surrendering three hits. He's won his last five starts, improving to 15-4 and has the best ERA in the American League at 2.68. Roberto Osuna recorded his 25th save by throwing a scoreless 9th inning.
Alex Bregman led the Astros in hits with two as Josh Reddick, Carlos Correa and Yordan Alvarez provided the three RBI in the win. Houston had just five hits Sunday afternoon.
The team is off Monday and will welcome the Colorado Rockies to town Tuesday night. Zack Greinke will make his Astros debut against Colorado.
