Greinke Earns Victory in Debut as Astros Hit 4 Homers to Beat Rockies

Zack Greinke won his Astros debut Tuesday night in front of a sell-out crowd as the Astros beat the Rockies, 11-6.

Greinke struggled with his fastball command but battled in and out of traffic to complete six innings. He gave up five earned runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out two. Greinke left with the game tied at five but Houston manufactured two runs in the bottom half of the 6th to make him eligible for the win.

The Astros backed up Greinke by clobbering four home runs and 13 hits. Yuli Gurriel hit two homers with three RBI along with Carlos Correa who had a solo shot for one of his three hits. Correa also had three RBI in the win. Yordan Alvarez hit a 436 foot bomb to the upper deck early in the game to help himself to two RBI on the night. Michael Brantley recorded his 44th multi-hit game of the season with two hits and two RBI. George Springer also had an RBI on two hits.

Gerrit Cole will take the mound Wednesday afternoon in the series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10pm.
