Gerrit Cole was dominant once again, striking out 12 Thursday night as the Astros took down the Tigers, 6-3.
Cole tossed seven scoreless innings while giving up just two hits and one walk. In his last 15 starts, Cole is 11-0 with a 1.84 ERA. He has 238 Ks on the season which is one behind Justin Verlander who is the league leader.
Michael Brantley extended his hitting streak to 15 games with three hits and two RBI in the victory. Alex Bregman hit his 31st home run of the season on a two hit, two RBI night. Yordan Alvarez was 1-3 with an RBI for his 57th RBI in his 57th game in the big leagues.
The Astros will welcome in the Angels for a three game division series beginning Friday night. Zack Greinke takes the mound, looking for his 4th win since joining Houston.
