Astros Use Seven Run 8th Inning to Rout Angels, Complete Series Sweep

The Astros scored seven runs in the bottom of the 8th inning in route to a big 11-2 win over the Angels Sunday afternoon. With the win, Houston completed the three game series sweep of L.A.

Jose Altuve hit a two run homer in the 8th to go with RBIs from Alex Bregman, Abraham Toro and Josh Reddick. Houston sent 11 men to the plate in the inning. Michael Brantley started the inning with a single that extended his hitting streak to 18 games. Altuve and Reddick each had two hits in the game along with a two run bomb in the 7th from Martin Maldonado.

Framber Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock and started on the mound for the Astros. Valdez grinded through six innings to earn his 4th victory of the season. He gave up one run on two hits while striking out eight and walking five.

The Astros improve to 85-47 which ties them with the Yankees for best record in the American League. Houston has an off day Monday and will welcome in the Tampa Bay Rays Tuesday.
