Verlander Gets 18th Win of Season in 2-1 Win Over Mariners

Justin Verlander earned his MLB leading 18th win Saturday night in a 2-1 victory over the Mariners.

Verlander tossed seven innings while allowing one run on four hits. JV leads the AL with a 2.53 ERA and added seven strikeouts to his season count of 264. The 264 strikeouts are second in the MLB behind Gerrit Cole. Will Harris earned his second save of the season by pitching a scoreless 9th.

Alex Bregman tied the game at one with a solo bomb in the 6th and Josh Reddick hit a go-ahead sac fly in the 7th which was eventually the game winning RBI. Kyle Tucker led off the 7th with a double and eventually scored on Reddick's RBI.

Houston will look for the series sweep Sunday afternoon with Gerrit Cole taking the mound. Cole is 15-5 with a major league leading strikeout total of 266.
