The Houston Astros completed a four game series sweep over the Mariners Sunday afternoon with a 21-1 blowout win.
Gerrit Cole dominated once again, throwing eight innings of one hit ball while striking out 15. Cole has now won 12 straight decisions and is the second pitcher ever to strikeout 14 or more in three straight outings. Pedro Martinez is the only other pitcher to ever do it. Cole extended his MLB lead in the strikeout department with 281 which is ahead of Justin Verlander.
The Astros set a new team record by hitting 11 doubles in the win. Yordan Alvarez had three of those doubles and recorded six RBIs on four hits. Jake Marisnick and George Springer both homered while combining for six RBIs. Kyle Tucker and Aledmys Diaz each had two hits with Tucker driving in three runs and Diaz driving in two. Every starter and pinch hitter for Houston recorded a hit.
Zack Greinke will take the hill Monday night in game one of a four game series against the Oakland Athletics.
