Texans' Justin Reid holding annual Thanksgiving event for families

Texans veteran safety Justin Reid is hosting 20 special familieson Tuesday nightfor his annual Thanksgiving shopping event.

An ambassador for Kids Meals Houston and Candle Lighters, Reid and the organizations have partnered to provide $200 Kroger gift cards to purchase groceries for their Thanksgiving meals.

The families will shop with Reid and other Texans players and local celebrities.

"I was fortunate to grow up in a household where I always had a hot meal on the table every day," Reid said. "During this time of year, I see so many families in need and I have to use my platform to do what I can. That is what my parents instilled in me."

Reid has personally donated over $100,000 to organizations, including Candle Lighters and Kids Meals Houston, also partnering with Microsoft to provide tablets to medical students and hosted a Hurricane Ida relief drive filling two 18-wheeles with donated items and donated nearly $30,000.

“We are excited to partner with Justin Reid and his foundation for this event, providing an opportunity for Houston area families during this special time of year,” said Laura Gump, president of Kroger’s Houston Division. “Last year, Kroger Houston donated $1.9M to local non-profit organizations and schools and donated 2.6M pounds of food to local food banks through its #ZeroHungerZeroWaste initiative."
