Texans provide jerseys for HBCU Pigskin Showdown

The Texans have provided practice jerseys for the upcoming HBCU Pigskin Showdown to be held in Marion, Ala., on Dec. 19.

The all-star game showcases draft-eligible players from historically Black colleges and universities.

"We’d like to thank the Houston Texans organization for providing the practice jerseys for our practice sessions!" the all-star game wrote on social media. "We don’t operate on a million $ budget (lol) but we continue to grow! Growth starts as folks like the Texans realize how important our event is for the kids of HBCUs.."

Eight-four players are scheduled to participate.

"This is a great opportunity for HBCU players,”co-founder Chris Williams said. “We’re excited to have this event in the Black Belt region of Alabama and are happy that the histories of Selma and Marion, Alabama will be on display as we provide a stage for these young athletes.”

“HBCUs are so important to our nation,”co-founder Bryant Grove said. “We’re thankful that we can provide a platform for these young men while highlighting Selma, Marion, and the campus of Marion Military Institute.”
