Texans make $10k donation after law enforcement officers' deaths, injuries

The Texans made a $10,000 donation in support of law enforcement after recent deaths and injuries, giving to The 100 Club.

In the past week, Corporal Charles Galloway of the Harris County Sheriff's Office was shot and killed during a traffic stop. And Sergeant Ramon Gutierrez of the Harris County Sheriff's Office was killed by a driver. Additionally, three Houston Police Department officers were injured Thursday.

"We are proud to make a contribution to the 100 Club of Houston in support of Corporal Galloway, Sergeant Gutierrez and the officers injured downtown earlier this week," Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair said. "Our first responders are every-day heroes and we are grateful for their dedication to Houston."

The donation supports the families of the officers. The 100 Club is a nonprofit organization providing financial support to dependents of law enforcement officials and firefighters killed or seriously injured in the line of duty in 32 counties surrounding Houston.

The Texans have donated $125,000 to the organization since 2013.

"We appreciate the long-term support and partnership with the Houston Texans and McNair family," executive director of The 100 Club William Skeen said. "Their continual support of The 100 Club allows us to assist our heroes in their time of need. This donation will enable us to assist the families of our recently fallen, and seriously injured officers and firefighters. This also enables The 100 Club to fulfill our other mission of providing life protecting equipment to help keep our heroes safe."
