Source: Texans cutting Terrance Mitchell

The Texans have informed starting cornerback Terrance Mitchell that he will be released, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

Mitchell, 29, is a former Dallas Cowboys seventh-round draft pick from Oregon.

He was signed to a two-year, $7.5 million contract last year in free agency.

They save $3.6 million against the salary cap by releasing Mitchell.

He recorded 59 tackles and one interception last season with three forced fumbles and 10 pass deflections.

The Cleveland Browns signed him to a three-year, $12 million contract in 2018.

He previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs.
