Sources: Texans expected to sign Kyle Allen, trade for Blake Cashman

The Texans traded a late-round draft pick to the New York Jets in exchange for linebacker Blake Cashman and expected to sign quarterback Kyle Allen to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with a maximum value of $3 million, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

Allen, a former University of Houston quarterback who has played for the Carolina Panthers before joining the Washington Football Team, underwent surgery for a dislocated ankle in November.

He was a restricted free agent who wasn't tendered. He played in two games last season and completed 12 of 19 passes for 120 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He rushed for 11 yards on two carries.
