Yankees GM Blames Astros Sign Stealing For Not Winning World Series In 2017

The constant complaining out of New York is so tired and it continues. We are talking about something that happened five years ago now, something that the Astros were not doing in the postseason, when they beat the Yankees, a series where neither team could hit. The Athletic posted a story this morning (subscription required), where Yankees GM Brian Cashman did more moaning about 2017 and his franchise having not won a title since 2009.

“The only thing that stopped [us] was something that was so illegal and horrific,” Cashman told The Athletic at George M. Steinbrenner Field. “So I get offended when I start hearing we haven’t been to the World Series since ’09. Because I’m like, ‘Well, I think we actually did it the right way.’ Pulled it down, brought it back up. Drafted well, traded well, developed well, signed well. The only thing that derailed us was a cheating circumstance that threw us off.”

“It does bother me when people say we haven’t been to the World Series since ’09,” Cashman continued. “We did it all right, by building it to a certain level that could have gotten us to a World Series — if not for something else. But hey! We’re back at it. Every year, we’re still back at it. We’ve been qualifying for the postseason, and we’re going to take this team as far as we can get it, and hopefully we can push through.”

“People are like ‘Oh, we haven’t been to a World Series . . .’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I don’t think that’s as true a statement as it could be,’” Cashman said. “We had a World Series team. And either you get it done or you don’t. People don’t want to hear that. I get it. But that’s real to me. I think it’s real to all of us."

“I’m past it now,” Cashman said. “But it does bother me when it comes up. We built something that — I can’t tell you we would have won. I can’t tell you we would have beat the Dodgers. But I do feel pretty confident that that team [the Astros] wasn’t stopping us, if it wasn’t for those advantages. That’s all.”

We have reached the point of this stuff just being sad. Your team got beat. Your team outhit the Astros in the series, you dumb. Move on with your life and realize that you just got beat by a better team. Let's also not forget that we are set to finally know what this letter about your team says about their sign stealing and we also have proof that Carlos Beltran came to Houston and told the Astros that their sign stealing was behind the times and he was leading the charge for it with the Yankees. So STFU dude. You sound dumb at this point.
