Former Indianapolis Colts running back Marlon Mack has signed with the Texans, according to a league source
Mack is a former Colts fourth-round draft pick who tore his Achilles tendon in 2020 and played for them last season under a one-year, $2 million deal. He played sparingly behind Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor. He rushed for 101 yards on 28 carries with two catches for eight yards.
The Texans need help in their backfield after having one of the worst running games in franchise history last season, averaging a franchise-low per carry.
They retained running back Rex Burkhead and re-signed Royce Freeman.
Burkhead was the leading rusher with 427 yards and three touchdowns.
Freeman rushed for 92 yards, 2.6 per carry, in seven games.
The Texans signed Dare Ogunbowale and have Darius Anderson and Scottie Phillips under contract.
Ogunbowale signed a two-year deal worth $3.3 million. Ogunbowale has 299 career rushing yards and three career rushing touchdowns.
