Astros Make Multiple Roster Moves Including Trade With Orioles

The Astros have been busy today with some roster moves. Nothing too significant overall, but some moving parts. Here is the announcement from the club:

ASTROS SELECT MADRIS: Effective today, the Astros have selected OF Bligh Madris to the Major League roster...Madris has joined the club in LA (C César Salazar was optioned to Triple AAA)...Madris, 27, has played his entire 2023 season at Triple A Sugar Land, where he was hitting .249 (58x233) with 10 HR, 36 RBI and 10 SB with an .809 OPS (.363 OBP/.446 SLG) in 60 games...vs. RHP, he posted a strong slash line of .272/.389/.538, hitting 9 of his 10 HR against RHP...Madris made 36 starts at the corner OF positions, 19 at 1B and 14 at DH...in 2022, Madris made his MLB debut with 2 stints in the Majors with the Pirates, appearing in 39 games overall.

TODAY’S TRANSACTIONS: The Houston Astros have acquired RHP Spenser Watkins from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for cash considerations...Watkins has been optioned to Triple A Sugar Land...additionally, today, the Astros transferred OF Michael Brantley and RHP José Urquidy to the 60-day IL.
