Texans rookie C.J. Stroud exits game, Houston falls 30-6 vs Jets

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud’s head hit the ground in the fourth quarter as he was shaken up in the fourth quarter against the New York Jets on a rush from defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, absorbing a late shot.

He was evaluated for a potential concussion.

Stroud appeared groggy after the hit and was attended to by trainers. He walked off the field under his own power and went immediately to the blue medical tent for further evaluation for an apparent head injury. He then went to the locker room for more testing.

Stroud and the Texans fell to the Jets, 30-6.

The Pro Bowl candidate and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner had a rough day, going 10 for 23 for 91 yards with four sacks.

Texans wide receiver Nico Collins eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his NFL career Sunday with a 13-yard reception in the first quarter against the New York Jets.

Later in the quarter, he injured his calf for the second time this season and was ruled out. Collins is the Texans’ leader for a receiving corps that lost rookie standout Tank Dell last week to a broken left fibula that ended his season.

The Texans also ruled out linebacker Blake Cashman and cornerback Tavierre Thomas with hamstring injuries.

Collins entered Sunday with a career-high 59 receptions for 991 yards and six touchdowns.

He joins Andre Johnson, DeAndre Hopkins and Brandin Cooks as the only players in franchise history to hit the 1,000 receiving yards milestone.
