Texans Trade 23rd Overall Draft Pick to the Vikings

HOUSTON – The Texans made a huge move Friday morning, trading out of the first round with the Minnesota Vikings as their trade partner.

The AFC South champions sent the 23rd overall and 232nd overall picks to the Vikings. In exchange, the Texans receive the 42nd and 188th overall picks this year, according to a league source. They also get a 2025 second-round draft pick.

Now, the Texans, coming off an 11-8 season, and acquiring Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter for two years and $51 million in free agency, and trading for and signing Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon to a three-year, $27 million extension, have made another roster-shaking move.

In a deeper draft, the Texans now have two second-round draft picks in addition to an extra second-round pick in 2025, it’s a depth-building kind of distraction
