Houston Chronicle writer Jonathan Alexander joins Next Up to give some insight on what Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is preaching to his team as they move forward with the reason of the season. "They can't shoot themselves in the foot," Alexander said regarding the Texans loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Alexander attributes the loss to the Texans simply getting out-coached by the Jaguars and quarterback C.J. Stroud overlooking the shorter, safer completions. "C.J. has this tendency to really want to get the big play," Alexander said.
"Ownership was patient" and rewarded with growth, but "the defense has to be a little more consistent" if the Texans want to make the playoffs, Alexander said.
