Astros Recall Loperfido, Jake Bloss Starts Vs. Orioles, Cougars AD Let Go

Stan Norfleet and Chris Gordy of Next Up recap the Houston Astros defeating the Chicago White Sox 5-3 on Thursday to take the series 2-1.

Spencer Arrighetti started on the mound and allowed three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two in just over four innings. Yordan Alvarez returned to the lineup after missing the first two games of the series due to a personal matter. Alvarez smacked a homer to right-center in the first inning just a couple hours after arriving in Chicago.

The Astros host the Baltimore Orioles for a three-game series starting Friday with Jake Bloss on the mound. Bloss, a right-handed pitcher and third-round pick in the 2023 MLB draft, was called up Thursday. The 22-year-old has split time between High-A Asheville and Double-A Corpus Christi and will make his Major League debut against the second best team in the AL East. Joey Loperfido will also join the Astros on Friday after being recalled from Triple-A Sugar Land.
