It appears the Astros have their answer at the catcher position for 2019. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that they are close to a deal with free agent, Robinson Chirinos. The 34 year old has spent six of his seven big league season with the Texas Rangers. Last year, Chirinos, appeared in 113 games for the Rangers, hitting .222 with a career high 18 home runs and 65 RBI, also a career high. Despite the low average, Chirinos got on base at a ..338 clip, while slugging .419 for a .757 OPS. Terms of the deal have not been reported to this point. Brian McTaggart of MLB.com is reporting that it will be a one year deal.
