Rockets Agree to 5 Year Contract Extension with GM Daryl Morey

The Rockets and long time General Manager, Daryl Morey, having agreed to a five year contract extension to keep him with the franchise. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle was the first to report the news of the extension.

Morey, now 46, has been the Rockets GM since the 2007 season and was in the final year of his deal. In his tenure as the GM, the Rockets have made the playoffs eight times, twice reaching the Western Conference Finals. Up next for the Rockets could be a contract extension for Mike D'Antoni, who recently had the option on his contract for next season picked up. Owner of the Rockets, Tillman Fertitta, said the following to Mark Berman of Fox 26 on the extension for Morey.

The Rockets, currently the hottest team in the NBA, enter play tonight riding a nine game win streak and look to push it to ten as they take on the Golden State Warriors at the Toyota Center.
