Could Bregman's Past Be Hindering Him From Signing A New Deal?

With the New Year upon us and the start of pitchers and catchers inching closer than we think, the Astros have been active in the offseason aiming to add depth to their roster and make another run for another postseason. Acquiring more depth in the bullpen followed by some in the infield as well, many have raised huge question as to what the Astros may tend to do with veteran third baseman Alex Bregman. With options dwindling down for Bregman, the two organizations that are still interested in him happen to be the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers. Wondering as to why it's taking so long for Alex to sign his next contract and hashing through the scenarios, one caller brought up the scenario pertaining to the Astros scandal back in 17' may be the deciding factor in why teams interest in Bregman has dwindled. Is it possible the scandal the Astros had a few years back, the sole reason as to why not very many teams are interested in signing Bregman?
