Ed Oliver Named FWAA All-American

HOUSTON – Already Houston’s first three-time All-American, Ed Oliver earned his second First Team All-America honor Monday as the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) named the junior defensive tackle to its list.

Oliver earned a First-Team nod from the FWAA for the second straight year after earning Second-Team honors in 2016, the same year he was named the organization’s Freshman of the Year.

Monday’s honor also marked Oliver’s second First-Team honor this season as he was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s First Team on Thursday.

Oliver also earned Second-Team honors earlier Thursday from Sports Illustrated and third-team honors from the Associated Press on Monday. It marked the third consecutive year for Oliver to earn honors from Sports Illustrated, having earned First-Team honors in 2016 and 2017.

Oliver, a consensus All-American in 2017 and the first underclassman in the history of the Outland Trophy to win the award, is one of eight from the Houston program to earn FWAA First-Team honors, and the only to do so twice.
