As the Houston Astros went for a series win in Anaheim, first baseman Jose Abreu got a day off, as he is batting just .218 this season with no homeruns and 33 strikeouts in 36 games played. The Astros did win the rubber match on Wednesday, 5-4.
In addition, the Astros had hoped to get outfielder Michael Brantley back in the lineup this series, but according to Chandler Rome, he is no longer with the team in Anaheim. He had joined the team this series but had not been activated.
Rome also reported that Manager Dusty Baker said that Brantley was sent back for further testing and was "more sore than usual because he played a lot" during his minor league rehab stint. It's unclear when Brantley will rejoin the team or be activated.
