Astros Make a Tweak to Their 40-Man Roster

On Monday, the Astros outrighted reliever Enoli Paredes to Triple-A Sugar Land, dropping him from their 40-man roster. Paredes spent 2023 in Sugar Land, where he appeared in 52 games, with a 4.80 ERA.

Paredes last pitched for the Astros in July 2022, where he pitched in just three games for Houston. In 2021, he appeared in 12 games for the Astros. Paredes' most success was his rookie season in 2020 during the COVID-shortened season, appearing in 22 games for the Astros with a 3.05 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

According to Chandler Rome and Brian McTaggart, Houston’s 40-man roster is now at 37 players.

Just last week, Martin Maldonado, Michael Brantley, Phil Maton and Ryne Stanek all became free agents, along with reliever Hector Neris who passed on his player option with Houston.

Injured players still on the Astros' 40-man include Luis Garcia, Lance McCullers Jr and Oliver Ortega.
