The Houston Astros start up their Spring Training games beginning this Saturday, as they will take on the Nationals in West Palm on SportsTalk790. Manager Joe Espada said Ronel Blanco will get the start in their Grapefruit League opener. Reliever Dylan Coleman, who was acquired this offseason from Kansas City, is scheduled to follow Blanco on Saturday.
Starting at 4p will be a new edition of Astroline with guest Joe Espada. Then the Astros network pregame will begin at 4:50p, followed by first pitch at 5:05p, all on SportsTalk790.
Espada also said he expects many of the Astros regular starters to play early and often in Spring Training games. He also revealed that Hunter Brown will start Sunday's split-squad game vs the Cardinals, which will air on SportsTalk790.
The Astros rotation expects to have Justin Verlander, Framber Valdez and Cristian Javier at the front end, but other spots in the rotation are up for grabs. Guys like Hunter Brown, Jose Urquidy, Brandon Bielak, JP France and Ronel Blanco are all in the mix to fill out those spots. Blanco made 17 appearances for the Astros last season with several starts and a 4.50 ERA.
