Ronel Blanco Throws 17th No-Hitter in Astros Franchise History

After starting their season 0-4, the Houston Astros picked up their first victory of the year in historic fashion - with Ronel Blanco throwing a no-hitter. It was the 17th no-hitter thrown in Houston Astros history. Houston won 10-0.

The Astros crushed the Toronto Blue Jays with multiple homeruns on the night, but it was Blanco who dazzled in his first start of the season. It was just Blanco’s eighth career start.

Blanco’s final stat line: 9 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K

Blanco completed the 17th no-hitter in Astros history (16th in the regular season), with the last coming from Framber Valdez on 8/1/23 vs. CLE. He faced just 2 batters over the minimum, surrendering 2 walks. Blanco is the 1st pitcher to throw a no-hitter within the first 8 starts of his career since Arizona's Tyler Gilbert on 8/14/21 vs. SD (was making his 1st career start). This was the 18th solo no-hitter thrown by a pitcher within the first 8 starts of their career in MLB history and was the 13th solo no-hitter in Astros history.
