Effective Wednesday, the Houston Astros officially optioned first baseman Jose Abreu to the Astros Spring Training facility in West Palm Beach. Meanwhile in a corresponding move, they recalled infielder/outfielder Trey Cabbage from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Cabbage was added to the team this past weekend for their trip to Mexico City, but was added a 27th man roster addition, with that move not restricting their ability to call him back up so quickly.
