Rockets Complete Seven-Team Trade to Acquire Kevin Durant and Clint Capela

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets today announced they have acquired forward Kevin Durant and center Clint Capela via a seven-team trade with Atlanta, Brooklyn, Golden State, the Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota and Phoenix.

Below are the Rockets outgoing elements from the trade:

  • To Phoenix: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the rights to Khaman Maluach from the 2025 NBA Draft, a 2026 second round pick (most favorable of Oklahoma City, Dallas and Philadelphia), and Houston’s second round pick in 2032.
  • To Atlanta: David Roddy, cash considerations, and the right for the Hawks to swap their second round pick for Houston’s in 2031.
  • To Brooklyn: A 2026 second round pick (least favorable between the Los Angeles Clippers and the most favorable of Boston, Indiana and Miami), and Boston’s second round pick in 2030.
  • To Golden State: Rights to Jahmai Mashack from the 2025 NBA Draft.

“Kevin impacts the game on both ends of the court and is one of the most efficient scorers in the history of basketball,” said Rockets General Manager Rafael Stone. “We liked the growth our team showed last season and believe Kevin’s skill set will integrate seamlessly."

“Having played against Kevin and coached him before, I know he’s the type of competitor who fits with what we’ve been building here in Houston,” said Rockets Head Coach Ime Udoka. “His skill level, love of basketball, and dedication to his craft have made him one of the most respected players of his generation, and my staff and I are excited to work with him.”

“Jalen’s basketball journey over the past four years, from entering the league as a teenager to becoming an established NBA player, played a major role in the development of our team and organization,” said Stone. “Off the court, Jalen’s kindness and commitment to teammates, coaches and staff were important parts of our culture.

"Dillon's impact was significant to the team's growth over the past two seasons. Every day, we asked him to lead by example with his toughness and intensity; time and again, he delivered.

“Both Jalen and Dillon are beloved throughout our organization. We’re very grateful for their contributions on the court and in the community and wish them all the best.”

Durant (6-10, 240) is a former MVP, 15-time All-Star, 11-time All-NBA selection (First Team six times; Second Team five times), four-time scoring champion, and a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP. He also holds a men’s Olympic basketball record with four gold medals.

In 17 seasons, Durant has appeared in 1,123 games while averaging 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.13 blocks and 1.05 steals. He is one of six players in NBA history with career averages of at least 25.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 4.0 apg, joining Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Luka Dončić, LeBron James, and Oscar Robertson. Durant is the only player in league history averaging those numbers along with at least 1.00 spg and 1.00 bpg.

Durant joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James, and Karl Malone as the only players in NBA history with career totals of at least 30,000 points, 7,000 rebounds, 4,000 assists, 1,000 steals and 1,000 blocks. Durant ranks eighth all-time in scoring with 30,571 points and needs 849 to pass Chamberlain for seventh and 990 to pass Dirk Nowitzki for sixth.

In 2024-25, Durant started all 62 of his games played for Phoenix while averaging 26.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.2 apg and 1.24 bpg. He was one of six players who averaged at least 26.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 4.0 apg last season and joined Giannis Antetokounmpo as the only players to have done so while also averaging at least 1.00 bpg. Durant also had the second-highest 3-point percentage (.430) of any player who averaged at least 2.0 3-pointers made in 2024-25.
