Astros With Significant Injury Updates on Key Players

The Houston Astros announced some significant injury updates as they begin the second half of the season out of the All-Star Break this weekend:

  • The Astros reinstated OF Chas McCormick from the 10-day IL (left oblique strain) Friday optioning OF Kenedy Corona to Triple A Sugar Land.
  • RHP Spencer Arrighetti (broken right thumb): Threw a 35-pitch live BP on 7/13; scheduled to report to Double A Corpus Christi this week.
  • RHP Cristian Javier (right elbow surgery): Made his first rehab assignment in the FCL on 7/12; scheduled to continue rehab assignment tonight with Double A Corpus Christi.
  • RHP Luis Garcia (right elbow surgery): On Monday (7/14), continued a rehab assignment in the FCL (2.0 IP, 18 pitches); scheduled to report to Single A Fayetteville this week.
  • RHP J.P. France (right shoulder surgery): In Florida, threw 35-pitch live BP on Tuesday, 7/15; will make another rehab appearance in the FCL next week.
  • OF/DH Yordan Alvarez (right hand inflammation): Started swinging a bat yesterday; is in Seattle with the team to open the road trip.
  • OF/IF Zach Dezenzo (left hand capsule strain): Continues with his running and throwing; has not progressed to hitting yet.
  • IF Brendan Rodgers (left oblique strain): Scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple A Sugar Land tonight.
  • OF Jacob Melton (right ankle sprain): In Florida, continuing with a hitting and throwing progression.
  • RHP Shawn Dubin (right forearm strain): In Florida going through a throwing program.
  • SS Jeremy Peña (left rib fracture): Traveled to Florida to continue a hitting, running and throwing progression.
  • IF Luis Guillorme (strained right hamstring): In Florida continuing with a hitting and throwing progression.
  • OF Pedro León (left knee sprain): Continuing with his hitting and throwing progression.
  • OF Jake Meyers (right calf strain): Is rehabbing in Houston
